Professional Family Pictures

Back in late May we got some family pictures taken by the photographer who did our wedding. It was such a great experience! He just does such an amazing job! Check out his site for details. www.scottypenny.com

Anyways, we went to Memphis Memorial Gardens on Poplar at 1-240. I had never been there and thought it odd to take pictures at a cemetery, but it's a really beautiful place. It has so many places to take great pictures and even better Nyla did great. She wasn't quite walking yet but pulling up and walking holding onto things. Scott said it was the youngest child he'd ever taken pictures of, but she's such a good baby! We took pictures for about an hour and thankfully it wasn't brutally hot out (this pregnant woman was thankful). I think it helped Nyla also to have had a 4 oz bottle and a nap on the way there. I'm glad she did otherwise she may have not done as well, but she did so no problem.

Okay, enough talking. Here's a few pictures from our picture day. Enjoy!

Some Random Pictures

It's a lazy Saturday morning, so that means time to post some pictures!

Birdface!

9 months, and a rare moment of relaxation for her!

With "Dada" on Easter Sunday. I don't see the resemblance at all.

Fresh off a bath in Florida, Momma decides to play with her hairstyle.

The beach can wear a girl out. Daddy's chest makes a comfy bed.

Happy Saturday!

28 Weeks Old

My Spirited Angel is 28 weeks old today. And just like last week, she's grabbing for the sign. She is more curious everyday.

She is in the beginning stages of crawling too, which is quite the adventure and excitement to watch! She is lifting on her knees and rocking back and forth most of the time. Today she got up on her knees and took 2 crawls then fell on her belly and fussed. She wants to go somewhere so bad. I love that she's getting more mobile. I'm not necessarily ready for it with the house, but that's on my list this week to get done. 1. Move all chemicals from under the kitchen sink to the hall bathroom, top shelf closet. 2. Close off all the bedroom doors in the back so she can't go where I don't want her. We've tried baby gates, but they don't fit our 1975 house well. It's hard to explain, but they don't fit properly. We tried 2 brands and both are no good. So we're forgoing the baby gates and we'll just close doors and we'll figure it out as we go.

Here are her 28 week pictures. She's so much fun!

Grabbing for the sign, as usual!

She was so serious for some reason. I think she's tired.

Smiling at Daddy, of course!

Another smile, yay!

"Daddy, I found where you tried to hide the sign!"

Have a great week! Thanks for following us!!!

27 Weeks Old

Yesterday Nyla turned 27 weeks old. And taking pictures was quite the experience, as you'll soon see. She is grabbing for everything now. I couldn't put the sign down even for a second without her grabbing it and putting it in her mouth. She is too goofy!

Before I brought the sign into the picture.

I'm holding it and there she is trying to grab it.

Got it!

And she's taking a bite out of the paper. I had to dig it out of her mouth before she swallowed it. Not that it would hurt her, but I didn't want her choking on it, if that's possible.

6 Months Old

Our sweet girl turned 6 months old yesterday. All I can say is "wow!"
It really does seem like just yesterday we were bringing her home at 2 days old. I know, I say all the time how time is flying, but it truly truly is!

Nyla is a ball of personality these days. She is smiling non-stop, laughing, sitting up well with a few occasional tumbles, finally likes playing on her belly, almost ready to crawl, has a fascination with her hands, loves touching faces when she's held, eats pretty well most days, sleeps good every night, takes great naps, loves to roll around, still loves her giraffe friend, loves to sit and listen while we read to her and loves playing in her exersaucer more each day. She is truly a blessing from our loving God!

I was reading In Case You Were Wondering by Max Lucado to her this morning. What a sweet, sweet children's book. I was bawling by the end of it. It is every emotion I feel with her everyday, just truly blessed to have been given her as a gift from God. He made her for us. Wow! It's powerful stuff. So thankful!

We go to the Pediatrician in about an hour and she gets more shots, which I hate. I'm all for vaccinating my child, but 6 shots in one visit? I wouldn't even do that to myself, let alone a baby. We are on a somewhat different shot schedule. We loosely follow Dr. Sears alternate vaccination schedule (can't find it on the web at this time), just because I don't want Nyla having 4-6 shots per visit, I like 3 at a time. I love our Pediatrician and the entire office. I'm so thankful for them. And they're open 7 days a week, a Doctor is always on call in the middle of the night and it's 5 minutes from our house. Big plus's all around! I do hate the shot parts though. I cry every time they give them to her. I have to pick her up immediately and comfort her and me and then we're better. It's tough to watch my baby be upset and in pain, but I feel it's best for her in the long run.

Here are some pictures from her 6 month photo shoot and a silly one with Daddy. Enjoy!

After dinner, laughing with Daddy. Sweet picture!

We love our sweet, happy girl!

26 Weeks Old

Nyla turned 26 weeks old yesterday, wow! She'll be 6 months old tomorrow. She's such a joy! She's sitting up great, with a few tumbles here and there. She smiles all the time and laughs too. We fully expect her to crawl any day now, it'll be great when she does!

Here are her pictures from her photo shoot! :)

Enjoy the sweet pictures!

23 and 24 weeks and a trip to LeBonheur

We have ALL been sick in this house. Thankfully we're getting over it. First Daniel got sick the Friday before Christmas, then I got sick the Wednesday before Christmas and didn't get to hold my baby girl until Christmas day. It was a tough week and tough Christmas!

We thought we were all better, then the Thursday after Christmas Nyla came down with a high fever of 102.8 and it wouldn't go away. We called the Pediatrician on call at our office that night and she was concerned Nyla had the flu (a cousin she was around the previous Monday had the flu) and we should take her to the hospital. So off to LeBonheur we go and we're there from 1-5 a.m., yikes!

Long story short, Nyla tested negative for RSV and the flu, the short term test, but the next Monday we got a call that the long term test came back positive for the flu, strain B. Thankfully, it's a very mild strain with high fever and vomiting as symptoms. She only had high fever, was very congested and her face was runny. Her eyes watered, her nose ran and she continued to drool.

She is a definitely better. She's still a little junky, but thankfully no fever in days!

Here are a couple of pictures from that night.

Lots of drool and in her hospital gown. Yes, they have baby hospital gowns and they're really sweet.

Chunky legs. She wouldn't let me put her down. She only wanted to snuggle with me and not her sweet Daddy. My arms were exhausted after holding her for basically 4 hours.

Before she got sick, her 23 and 24 weeks old. We were late in taking these because we were sick and kept forgetting.

Looking up at Daddy.

Sweet baby!
